About Stroud

Stroud is a small country town one hour north of Newcastle, in the MidCoast Council area. The major road through it is the Bucketts Way.

The township traces its beginning to the late 1820s, when it became the headquarters of the Australian Agricultural Company. In 1824 the company received a grant of a million acres between Port Stephens and the Manning River, to be used for agriculture.

More about Stroud

The Stroud Show is usually held the first weekend after Easter, the Stroud Rodeo the third weekend in September, and the Stroud International Brick and Pin Throwing Contest on a Saturday in July, at the same time as the same event in three other Strouds around the world.

The Stroud Raiders football team reformed in 2007, and the town has a cricket team and four tennis courts. The 25-metre pool is usually open from October to April and free for the community. In April 2015 a large storm caused flash flooding that damaged sporting facilities, houses, property and camping grounds.
